Wire-to-board

Molex Cable Assemblies

Molex connector families run from fine-pitch signal to board-level power: PicoBlade, Pico-Lock and CLIK-Mate for small signal and sensor connections, Micro-Fit 3.0 and Mini-Fit Jr. for power. Mini-Fit Jr. is a 4.20 mm dual-row system for wire-to-board and wire-to-wire power; Micro-Fit 3.0 fits power into a 3.00 mm pitch. Our manufacturing partner builds Molex leads, harnesses and adapters to your drawing with genuine Molex housings and terminals.

Applications

Where Molex assemblies are used

Board and supply power

Mini-Fit Jr. and Micro-Fit 3.0 leads from supplies and distribution boards to motherboards, drives and motor controllers.

Signal and sensor leads

PicoBlade, Pico-Lock and CLIK-Mate leads for displays, sensors, cameras and small boards.

Mixed harnesses

Harnesses that carry Molex power and signal plugs together, or adapt a Molex header to another maker's connector.

Your specification

What you can specify

Each point is confirmed with our manufacturing partner before the quotation. Connectors are the genuine parts your drawing names, and an alternative is used only with your written approval.

  • Family, position count and rows for each plug
  • Terminals for the wire gauge and plating your drawing calls for
  • Wire-to-wire mating halves as well as wire-to-board
  • Terminal position assurance (TPA) versions, where the family has them
  • Lengths, sleeving and labels
Testing

Testing and records

Every unit is continuity tested and ships with a test report; crimp pull-force testing follows the plan agreed in your quotation.

Every circuit is checked pin to pin against the drawing's pin table, dual-row positions included.

FAQ

Common questions

Are the Molex parts genuine?

They are, unless you approve a named alternative in writing. The quotation lists each housing and terminal part number, so what you approve is what gets built.

Which Molex family fits my current?

The family sets the range and the terminal and wire set the rating: Mini-Fit Jr. for heavier board power, Micro-Fit 3.0 where power has to fit a smaller footprint, the fine-pitch families for signals. Send the current per circuit, and the terminal and wire pairing is confirmed before quoting.

Are PCIe and CPU power connectors Mini-Fit?

PCIe 6- and 8-pin power uses the same 4.2 mm pitch, but those connectors are defined and keyed by their own specifications, and they have their own pages here.

What should a Molex cable RFQ include?

The family and housing part numbers for each end, terminal plating if it matters, wire gauge, lengths, the pin table, any TPA or wire-to-wire halves, and prototype and production quantities.

Connector and series names on these pages — JST, Molex, Micro-Fit, Mini-Fit, PicoBlade, Pico-Lock, CLIK-Mate, PCIe, MCIO, SlimSAS, OCuLink, HSD, HFM and DEUTSCH among them — may be trademarks of their respective owners. They are used only to identify the connectors an assembly is built with or mates with. Interconnix is not affiliated with, sponsored by or an authorized distributor of any connector maker.
